About me
Hi! I'm looking for that special someone.

I love team sports (Dodgeball, Softball, and other random stuff) and play at least two to three times a week depending on season. I'm not really the gym rat type; I bore easily of tedious workouts and absolutely prefer to play sports. Despite being a fairly large guy, I am pretty good at a variety of sports. I really like Softball, partly because I'm good at it and partly because I loved baseball as a kid. Being a kid when the Jays won back to back World Series probably helped.
When it's warm out, I love swimming outside (be it pool or lake). When I was much younger and fitter I was for a while training to do a cross-Lake Ontario swim but it never panned out. I was probably also a bit crazy.

I also enjoy camping and would like to see the parts of Canada that don't necessarily have airports.

I'm into gaming on my 360 or PC and I'm pretty good if I do say so myself.
I enjoy reading (I devour books) and am just finishing up the Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin, which is the book series that Game of Thrones is based on if you aren't familiar with it. I really like escapist fiction that takes you outside the typical setting but lately have been reading a lot of adventure novels by authors like Clive Cussler or James Huston. Those were based on friends' recommendations and I like Clive Cussler so far.

I spend some of my spare time volunteering for local charity. I'm probably very lucky because my work sponsors some of it as well, and I get to apply my work experience directly to helping make things easier for charities.

I would like to travel but not to what I think are most people's typical locations; I'd like to see Iceland, or go camping on Ellesmere Island, for instance. I do definitely want to relax on a beach in the Caribbean, don't get me wrong, it's just that I would like to see some places that are relatively untouched by humanity or have interesting geography.
My favourite travel vacation I've taken so far had to be a March Break I spent in Florida with my cousin where we swam in waves leading a Tropical Storm. Runner up would probably be driving out to Halifax with a few friends. I've gone on a few road trips and don't mind long drives as long as I have decent company to share it with.

I also really like science-y things. I wind up reading a lot of blogs / online journals about new cool things scientists are finding out and do my best to understand anything I can. I really like figuring out how things work and what exactly that means. I also really like stargazing. I know that Astronomy always sounds like the taped-glasses nerd thing to do but honestly, you can see stuff with even just a pair of good binoculars that is breathtaking, especially once you put it into the perspective of how big and far away the things you're looking at are. It gives you a great appreciation of just how tiny we are in the universe but also how great we are that we can actually look at it.

Fun random fact about me: When I was much younger I used to act, and I once read lines with Henry Winkler (The Fonz).
What I'm looking for
I could probably boil down what I'm looking for into four key things: How easygoing you are, your sense of humour, your intellect and ability to reason, and your drive or passion for something in your life. I find I get along better and am more attracted to geekier / more intellectual women by far. I consider it more important for you to be capable than a genius though.
