Another great article from Meet Market Adventures, view more great articles and tips for singles.

You've got to get away. You want to do something on your own. You are totally independent and prefer to make your own decisions. Spur of the moment ideas appeal to you even though you have an idea of what it is that you want to do. SKI! Whether this is a new idea, an obsession, or just a way to join other singles who also like to go it alone, there are many ways of planning your get away. But, keeping it simple gives you the most freedom to decide what to do when you get where you are going. You can choose one place or, of course, you can plan to go several places taking a day or two here and a day or two there.

Single's ski travel vacations are for skiing and meeting new friends. Going off on your own doesn't mean lack of identity. It means independence and free spirit! You have a different idea of how to have fun and that doesn't mean following all the rules. You make your own as you go. So where do you go? Try Canada! There are more places in Canada than you'd expect. Their ski resorts cater to both beginners and advanced ski travelers. Their après ski and nightlife is geared to the single person who chooses carefully what will fit the bill.

Canada from coast to coast has more ski lodges that cater to singles than a person could ask for. And many of them are close enough together that you can actually trek your trip from one to the other until you run out of energy to have fun!

You might want to just plain ski and be alone. Many single ski travelers like privacy and quiet getaways. Others like to roam and seek out other singles like themselves playing with romance or seeking that one special person like a needle in a haystack.

Ski half the day, sightsee in the afternoon and hit those singles groups in the evening. Nighttime is fun around a fire with other singles or that one person you met. This is definitely the time to socialize and let your imagination roam free.

You've already defined your priorities. Now it is time to make those reservations! Kick free of everyday life and maybe just roam around the Canadian provinces' various ski resorts. Don't let family advertisements scare you away. They all have singles ski travel adventures!

Need some help to get started skiing affordably? Here are a few tips for ski travel you might want to consider:

Lift tickets are an eye-bulging aspect of fun in the snow. Ski weekdays, not weekends. The snow is the same. The slopes are much less crowded. There is really no down side to skiing on weekdays, if you can get the time off of work. It's the simplest way to save money. Prices will be 20 to 50 percent off in many cases.

Look out for midweek hotel-lift ticket packages, when your chances are biggest for paying the least.

If you are a student always, always, always ask if there is a ticket package for them before purchasing! Sometimes these discounts are not advertised, but almost every resort offers lift ticket savings for students. You'll often pay 50 percent or less than the regular adult-prices. Many mountains extend the discounts to lessons and rentals too.

Many resorts offer special ski passes for those only interested in riding a limited number of chairlifts. These offers are usually aimed at beginner skiers, who are more likely to stick at the bottom of the mountain and ride one or two chairlifts all day.

And remember, you are doing this to have fun so hit those slopes, have a late after noon happy drink, and enjoy those singles scenes before sitting in front of that gorgeous fireplace!
