Oh, That Wonderfully Stressful First Kiss

This isn’t only a dating problem that a lot of singles deal with, it’s one of the things that people keep at the top of their list of things they won’t miss about single life. Once you’re in a happy and stable relationship, there won’t be another first kiss. That means one of our biggest pressures won’t exist anymore.

Then there are those who have the opposite mentality. Many serial daters actually look forward to the first kiss, pressures or not, because it’s an intense moment, and let’s face it, a pretty fun weekend goal. Even those who fear the moment of “will they kiss me” or “should I initiate the kiss” would most always admit that it’s a moment full of excitement. Once the kiss happens, that feeling you get during and after make all the stress ahead of time well worth it.

Of course, the serial daters have practice, one would assume. While many people are happy to know they’ve had passionate kisses with two or three people in their lives, some people’s counts go higher than my bank account. Not that that’s really anything to brag about in and of itself, but still, it could be pretty high.

The fear and stress that comes with the first kiss does change from person to person, but it also changes from place to place. Toronto singles tend to rate the stress a bit higher than New York singles, and even Montreal singles, even though these are all close together geographically speaking. Still, each of those cities have very different social dynamics, which accounts for most of these differences.
