About me
When one does not know exactly what to do with one's life, what recourse is there but to try as many new things as possible?

I think we'd all like to believe we have more control over our lives than we actually do. Unfortunately, though one can prepare for when opportunities arise and learn how to recognize them when they approach, nothing can force opportunity to spring forth. Successfully making one's own opportunity first requires the opportunity to make that opportunity - and someone to teach you how to make it.

Jazz is good, even though it can be hard to find really good jazz. Bicycling is a healthy and cost-effective means to go about one's business. E. M. Forster's "The Machine Stops" is a remarkably prescient short story with important lessons for our time and I suggest you look it up. Video games do pass the time quite effectively, though maybe not so well as posting on message boards. Physical fitness and personal hygiene are important.

Good grammar appears to be highly undervalued. Televised sports are an excruciating bore. The fashion industry is evil. Celebrity gossip is vacuous. Politics are too complicated. Paying off one's credit card in full every month is just good sense. Travel is generally much too costly for the limited benefits it may provide. And alcohol just doesn't taste very good.
What I'm looking for
All I'm particularly interested in finding is a well-spoken, intelligent female companion with whom I might have stimulating, sober conversation. That is not to imply that I want to proselytize one way or another; I'm quite sure there's a great deal about the world I don't know yet, and I welcome anyone who might care to beat back the thick jungles of ignorance for a while. Whatever else happens, happens, but let's try to do this first. Really.
