The answer to my question, "[h]ow can we determine the gender ration at an event before we sign up?" was answered with a non-answer answer.

The answer was that "a great majority of our events are balanced in terms of gender ratios" and that I should "[p]lease keep in mind we are a social, activity-based club for singles and not a dating service. That is why we have a no-pressure approach and focus on having fun instead."

With all due respect, is it just me who finds that this type of answer is marketing speak?

Seriously, given the choice, how many people would turn down the choice of seeing who is attending? This is not a difficult software problem - just add a link for each event ("Attendees") and let us see who is going. I may like sport X, but I would sure like it a lot better with a gender balance. All over this site, there are enticements to "meet singles" with similar interests - precisely what I am interested in doing. As in single females, not other single men.

Failure to provide transparency on the gender ratio leads to suspicion that there is a gender imbalance. Suspicion does not create a "no pressure" atmosphere.

Further, upon a search in my local area, there is no indicator that the women in question have been online recently.

So, no gender ratio in advance of an event (could hurt attendance, and thus profit) and no "last online" indicator: No wonder I am suspicious of plunking down money for events.

Let us see who is going to the events. Let us know when the last time someone was online - if they haven't been online in six months, we can pretty much figure out that there is no use in sending a message.
