Join Meet Market Adventures and other nature loving singles for a day of hiking and exploring in North Vancouver’s Capilano River Regional Park. Created in 1926, this 160 hectare park attracts more then 1 million visitors a year. Lois from Natural Trekking will take us up Capilano Pacific Trail, along the west side of the rushing Capilano. The canyon itself is a deep slice engulfed by granite cliffs and second-growth forest. In addition to its wild, untouched scenery, the park is known for two attractions: Cleveland Dam and Capilano Salmon Hatchery.

We will wander off to the shorter trails in the vicinity of the Salmon Hatchery; where we will witness salmon jumping up the fish ladder during their upstream migration. Second Canyon Viewpoint Trail, leads hikers to incredible views of the canyon and Cleveland Dam spillway. A return trip via Giant Fir Trail will bring you face-to-face with Grandpa Capilano, a massive, old-growth Douglas-fir tree.

So lace up your hiking boots, grab your camera and meet new friends while you share in the spectacular views and natural history that is contained in this remarkable park.

What to wear/bring: Small pack for layered clothing & food & water * Light Rain gear (just in case) * Hiking shoes with stable ankle support * 1-2 liters of water * Fruit, small lunch (nothing that will go bad with time in the heat) * Sunscreen/hat * Hiking poles if you choose (really helpful downhill)

Capilano Road north (Capilano Road exit from Highway #1 or North Vancouver exit off Lions Gate Bridge, then left up Capilano Road) .5 km past the Suspension Bridge. Turn Left on to Capilano Park Road (Look for sign "Capilano River Regional Park") and proceed down 1 km to end of the road.
